The Haynal André Psychoanalytic Collection of the ELTE PPK Library and The Hungarian Psychoanalytical Society is available

André Haynal's collection of books and periodicals of nearly three thousand volumes was donated to the PPK Library of the Eötvös Loránd University by the family of the world-famous psychoanalysts and psychiatrists of Hungarian origin. Much of the legacy from Switzerland is made up of books processing works of Sigmund Freud and Sándor Ferenczi. You can find his publication list on his website.

André Haynal was Head of Department at the University of Geneva, Member of the Swiss Academy of Medicine and President of the Swiss Psychoanalytic Society. He was elected an honorary member of the Hungarian Psychoanalytic Society.

The professor considered it important to share his knowledge with his Hungarian colleagues, so after his death (2019) his collection was donated to the Faculty of Pedagogy and Psychology of Eötvös Loránd University by his widow, Véronique Haynal and his children with the help of professor Fülöp Márta in cooperation with the Hungarian Psychoanalytic Society. The legacy came to the faculty in cooperation with the Hungarian Psychoanalytic Society.

Part of the collection was located in the reading room on Kazinczy Street and another part in our stack-room. Psychoanalytic literature, mainly in English, French, German and partly in Hungarian, can be used locally. The terms and conditions of use are set out in our brochure
