Hárdi István Collection

Dr. István Hárdi chose the field of psychiatry at the suggestion of Ferenc Mérei, whose seminars he attended at the Jewish Free University. In addition to his medical activities, he carried out significant educational and research activities. He has several ties to the ELTE, where he obtained a psychology degree at ELTE BTK in 1978. He taught mental health, nursing psychology, and psychiatry at Bárczi Gusztáv College.

His field of research is the pathology and psychology of the pictorial world, and in his candidate's thesis (Introduction to dynamic drawing analysis) he was based on the examination of the works collected during his work. A part of the collection has a psychiatric theme, in Hungarian, English and German. The other part is a selection of literature related to art therapy. The Collection is available to those interested in the Reading Room of the ELTE PPK Library in Kazinczy Street.

Our library catalog does not include the material of the collection. You can find out about it from an excel sheet.

The volumes can only be used locally, it is not possible to borrow them – because of stock protection reasons. Using the Collection is possible during the opening hours of the reading room (Stock request from Monday to Thursday until 1/2 4, on Friday until 1). For using the reading room registration is required. Those with an ELTE citizenship can register via the web app, while non-members can only register in person at the Circulation Room, during the opening hours of the Circulation Room.

If you have any further questions about the Collection and its use, please contact the library at our e-mail address or by phone.
